Short Essay: Preparations before going to final examination

Final examination is just around the corner. Have you prepared for the examination? As we all know, final examination is very important for a university student as it will put either you are qualified to be in the Dean’s List or not. Therefore, we have to struggle more for the final examination. For your information, there are many preparations that we have to do before going to final examination such as get enough sleep, revise notes and pray to Allah. These preparations will help us to get flying colours’ results in the final examination.

First and foremost, as a student we have to get enough sleep so that we can pay full attention during the class or when doing revision. A research made from Michigan University, United State states that an adult have to sleep at least six hours a day. Usually, university student loves to burn the midnight oil especially when the time is running out for revision. In my opinion, burning the midnight oil for studying is good only if you manage your study schedule properly. According to Professor Dr. Muhaya, sleeping before midnight will produce a better quality sleep compared to sleep after midnight, so why don’t we sleep early and wake up before dawn to do the revision? That is better as you will not have to sacrifice your bed time. If you stay up at night just to do your last minute revision, you might be sleepy during the examination. Make sure you get enough sleep before you face your final examination. We don’t want anyone of us to fall asleep during answering the question paper, right?

Besides that, revising notes is also important for final examination. Revise those notes two weeks before examination or anytime when you have free time; make your own notes for every subject you learn because this will help you to do the revision. Human’s brain is brilliant especially when we ease the way for it to memorise important facts. You can use mind mapping method that is created by Tony Buzan, or you just write your important points of a subject by using attractive colours, draw a diagram or picture, write out the important points and make it short. Other than that, you can ask for your lecturer’s favour to check your notes whether it is complete or not. Revising notes is better compared to reading a thick book. When you have a complete note, you do not have to bring along tons of books to class for revision and you can read your notes at anywhere and anytime. This will help you to save your time, money and energy because you do not have to buy revision books. However, make sure you understand what you write and it is better if you can memorize all the important points of a subject. By revising notes, you will be able to notice any part of the subject that you cannot understand. Besides that, you can share your notes with your friends. They will be happy and feel appreciated and then this can strengthen your friendship bonds. Revising short notes is better compared to reading a book because it prevents you from overload of information and boredom.

In addition, we also have to pray to Allah S.W.T, ask Him to give us strength and success in this world and The Hereafter. At the same time, we also have to obey Allah by performing good deeds, avoid sins and obey the teaching that is demanded by al-Quran and as-Sunnah so that Allah S.W.T will always bless us in whatever we do. Besides that, before facing the final examination you have to ask for forgiveness from your parents, lectures, friends and Allah S.W.T. Please mind your attitude and always perform the prayer, especially the obligatory prayer. Allah will listen to what we pray as long as we are loyal to Him. When your heart remembers Allah, it will always stay calm and then you would not feel the stress due to the final examination. When you pray to Him, you are actually releasing your stress and this is better than you hang out with your friends at shopping malls, river and funfair during the study week. Last but not least, man proposes, God disposes. When you have done your best for the preparations, just leave the rest to Allah S.W.T.

As a conclusion, there are many ways that we can do for our preparations before going to final examination such as get enough sleep, revise notes and pray to Allah S.W.T. Good luck and best wishes to all of you.
